Shamshabad Ammapalli Temple History
This Temple was constructed during Vengi Chalukyas’ reign in the 11th century. This magnificent construction covered 250 acres. The Seven Storeyed Building Gali Gopuram measures 90 feet in height.
This Gopuram’s Inscriptions depict Lord Vishnu, Rama, and Dasavathara photos. On the right are two large Temple Tanks.
The Temple is located on the East and South sides. This Temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, Mata Sita, and Lakshmana.

1.This town is called Ammapalli because Sita Maa, the prominent deity of this Temple, lives there. It is a temple that dates back to around 1000 years ago.
2.It is the historical period of Chalukya. 70 ft Gali Gopuram. This 7-storied structure is stuccoed with limestone and baked bricks. It is the motivation for Nizam Charminar, constructed in the 15th century.
3.This arch is rare for a single boulder for three idols with Makara Thoranam. This arch contains ten different incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
4.This type of stone carving dates back to the 11th century. Only two Indian idols have this type of stone carving, in Ammapalli temple & Ryali-Jaganmohana temple.
5.The arch Lord Vishnu’s idol dominates the temple entrance. It is not common to see north Indian architecture in South Indian temples.
6.Extraordinary salvation power for the shrine. Why is Lord Hanuman’s statue opposite the central Temple that houses Lord Rama? was the place where Lord Rama, Mata Sita, and Lakshmana arrived. Hanuman is not there with them. They met Hanuman after they left for Panchavati.
